As temperatures are chilly in most parts of the country, minds are certain to wander to warmer climates. Right now, we can picture sandy beaches, palm trees swaying with the crystal blue waters as the backdrop. That description may sound like a lot of islands, but one island that is on our travel bucket list is Fiji.

Located in the South Pacific Ocean, the archipelago consists of 332 islands that were formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago. With an abundance of resources such as minerals, fish and forestation, Fiji has one of the most developed economies in the Pacific Island realm.

Those looking for an island getaway will find a tropical climate of warm weather with varying rainstorms. The weather is perfect for exploring both the culture of the native Fijians and the jungle environment. According to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics, 75 percent of visitors went to Fiji on vacation, and why not? The country is the perfect destination for relaxing.

When not sitting on one of the many white beaches, travelers can visit one of the various tourism destinations that include the  Botanical Gardens of Thursten in Suva, the Sigatoka Sand Dunes, and Colo-I-Suva Forest Park or go scuba diving or snorkeling from one of the Mamanuca Islands. After a scuba dive, visitors can head to dry land to watch Fiji’s favorite sport of rugby; visit the biggest Hindu temple in the Southern hemisphere, the Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple; or check out the arts and crafts at the Arts Village at Pacific Harbour.
