Tangier, Morocco – August 2027 Eclipse Weather Prospects

Morocco provides a fine sunny climatology from which to view the 2027 eclipse. Weather station measurements at Tangier for August show that 79 percent of the daylight hours are sunny. Daily satellite images are just as optimistic, showing that only five eclipse days had cloud in the past 24 years and on three of those five, the cloud would have dissipated before the eclipse. Temperatures—an important part of this eclipse in the heat of summer—are pleasant, with average daytime highs just above 30°C (86°F). In common with the rest of the eclipse track, atmospheric dust is an occasional problem in Morocco, but only one August 2 in the past 24 years was affected by a dust pall thick enough to put a thin veil over the outer corona of the Sun. All-in-all, Morocco is an excellent and pleasing location from which to view an eclipse.

Today we’ll embark on a captivating journey to Valldemossa, one of Mallorca’s most enchanting villages. We’ll stroll through charming streets to discover hidden treasures like the Carthusian monastery gardens and Chopin's monument. Discover the Monasteries intriguing history, which functioned as a royal residence before transforming into a retreat for monks from 1399 to 1835. It was a beloved location for composer Frederick Chopin and writer George Sand during their visit in 1838. Discover the museum showcasing original manuscripts and sheet music and enjoy a mini piano concert at the nearby King Sancho Palace.

Afterwards you’ll enjoy free time to stroll the vibrant streets adorned with flower-filled facades and ceramic tributes to St. Catherina Thomas. Treat yourself to local delights like coca de patata and frozen almond milk at a cozy café or browse boutiques for unique souvenirs. Today we’ll discover the medieval charm of Old Town Ibiza, known as D'Alt Vila, on a guided walking tour through this UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll wander along narrow lanes and steep cobbled streets, taking in panoramic views from terraces overlooking the town and bay as you enter D'Alt Vila through the impressive Ses Taules Gate, flanked by replicas of iconic Roman statues. Then, from the main square, we’ll explore historical gems, such as the 14th-century cathedral, the Episcopal Palace, the historic Town Hall, and the Convent of the Dominicans. Excursion #2: Caminito Del Rey

Today we’ll set out on an exhilarating adventure along El Caminito del Rey, a historic pathway established during King Alfonso XIII's reign in 1921. Originally built between 1901 and 1905 for utility workers, this trail offers stunning views of the El Chorro gorge. After a 13-year closure, a new reinforced pathway was constructed above the original, transforming it into a popular destination for adventurous hikers. Accompanied by your guide, we’ll travel about an hour to El Chorro, where your journey begins with a walk through an old mountain tunnel, enriched by fascinating geological and historical insights.

Then as you navigate the wooden walkway anchored to the rock face, you can take in the breathtaking vistas and keep an eye out for fossils and local wildlife, such as mountain goats and soaring birds. The highlight of the experience is the 100-foot-long metal bridge, suspended 300 feet above the ground. After this exhilarating experience, return to Malaga by bus, reflecting on your memorable adventure.

Excursion #1: Tour of the Rocks

Rising nearly 1,400 feet above sea level, the Rock of Gibraltar is steeped in legend, often regarded as one of the fabled Pillars of Hercules. This iconic landmark, marked by unmistakable British influences such as policemen, pillar boxes, and pubs, overlooks the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea. Our journey begins with a scenic drive toward the British-Spanish frontier. Our first stop is Europa Point, the southernmost tip of Gibraltar, which offers breathtaking panoramic views and is home to the only Trinity Lighthouse outside Great Britain. Here, you’ll have the chance to capture stunning photographs of the bustling shipping lanes where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic.

Next, we ascend to the Upper Rock area, where St. Michael’s Cave awaits. Inside this expansive Gothic-style cavern, you’ll be enchanted by captivating formations of stalagmites and stalactites, all accompanied by the soothing strains of classical music. A highlight of your visit is the opportunity to encounter the famous Rock Apes, or Macaca sylvanus, at King Charles “V” Wall, their known habitat. Continuing through the upper Rock area, we pass the historic Moorish Castle and the tower of Homage, both bearing the marks of centuries of conflict.

Excursion #2: Panoramic Gibraltar and Tea Experience

From the quayside, we’ll head north across Gibraltar’s iconic runway, passing the border that separates this British Overseas Territory from Spain. As we drive, you'll have the chance to view both the significant border and the Spanish mainland in the distance.

Our tour continues along the outskirts of the town, where we’ll pass notable sites such as the American War Memorial and the Trafalgar Cemetery, before reaching Europa Point. Embark on a fascinating journey through Tetouan, where captivating architecture reflects the town's rich bicultural heritage. Although Spanish is rarely spoken today, the influence of Spanish culture is still deeply woven into the fabric of daily life. Andalusian music remains a vibrant part of the culture, and trade with nearby Ceuta, a Spanish enclave just 25 miles away, continues to maintain the historical ties between Arabic and Spanish traditions.

Our exploration begins at the grand entrance to the Royal Palace, located at Place Hassan II, where you’ll also appreciate the Spanish Colonial architecture in the modern town, particularly around Place Moulay El Mehdi, just outside the World Heritage-listed medina.

Rates are quoted per person in US dollars, based on double occupancy.  Prices are based on projected rates and will not be finalized until 2026. TravelQuest reserves the right to increase or decrease published prices at that time. Payments & Terms

  • An advance payment of $2,000 USD per person, along with the completed reservation form, is required to secure your reservation
  • A second advance payment equal to 20% of your invoice grand total is due by May 21, 2025
  • A third advance payment equal to 20% of your invoice grand total is due by November 17, 2025
  • A fourth advance payment equal to 20% of your invoice grand total is due by June 16, 2026
  • Final payment is due by January 15, 2027
  • Payments can be made by check, bank wire transfer or credit card (with an additional 3.5% credit card processing fee)

Cancellation Terms

  • Cancellations must be made in writing via email, fax or mail
  • All advance payments, less a $600 USD per person cancellation fee, are refundable until May 21, 2025
  • Cancellations made between May 22, 2025 and November 17, 2025 will incur a penalty of 40% of all advance payments made to date
  • Cancellations made between November 18, 2025 and June 16, 2026 will incur a penalty of 30% of all advance payments made to date
  • Cancellations made between June 17, 2026 and January 15, 2027 will incur a penalty of 25% of all advance payments made to date
  • All payments become non-refundable after January 16, 2027
  • Airline cancellation terms & conditions are the responsibility of the traveler

TRAVELER HEALTH

At TravelQuest we want to be sure you find the trip that best suits your interests and level of fitness. Prior to making a booking, it is the responsibility of each traveler to thoroughly read the itinerary, and to acquire and understand all pertinent medical advice to determine whether they are in an appropriate state of physical health to undertake the trip. At a minimum, participants must be able to climb into and out of buses, vans and trains without assistance, to carry their own luggage, and to generally keep up with the pace of the trip. If you have any questions about your trip’s itinerary or its level of difficulty, please contact us prior to booking.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel insurance protects you from unexpected “what ifs” on your travels: What if your bags go missing? What if you must cancel? What if you need medical assistance? TravelQuest highly recommends that you purchase a travel protection plan to help secure you and your trip investment against the unexpected. You can purchase this insurance on your own or contact our friends at Travelex, who are familiar with our trips and offer a selection of coverage options to suit your needs. To be eligible for the waiver of pre-existing medical condition exclusion, Travelex plans must be purchased within 15 days from the time you make your initial deposit to TravelQuest. ALL Travelex policies must be purchased at least 14 days prior to your departure date.
