As you set sail in your quest to rendezvous with the total solar eclipse of the century, Antoni Gaudí’s majestic Sagrada Familia and the iconic Barcelona skyline bid you farewell. Soon, the city fades from view as you glide into the shimmering waters of the Iberian Peninsula, where waves softly lap against the hull, creating a serene symphony that blends harmoniously with the warm sunlight dancing on the surface. Welcome aboard the ultra-luxurious Emerald Sakara yacht, your home for the next twelve days.
TravelQuest invites you to be one of only 100 guests embarking on this extraordinary and exclusive adventure, at the vibrant intersection of Africa and Europe. Your adventure takes you first to the Balearic Islands, a stunning archipelago famed for its crystal-clear waters, ancient ruins, and dramatic cliffs that give way to lush green valleys. Charming coastal villages, with their whitewashed buildings and lively markets, greet you with the irresistible aromas of fresh olives and local delicacies lingering in every corner. As our graceful yacht cruises along the southern coast of Spain, we’ll uncover some of Andalucía’s most charming and historic villages, revered for centuries as a source of inspiration for both travelers and poets.
Then, standing guard at the edge of the magnificent Atlantic, we’ll visit the legendary Rock of Gibraltar, often regarded as one of the fabled Pillars of Hercules. From this iconic vantage point, we’ll navigate the straits to reach Tangier, with its sun-drenched alleyways and bustling markets, a jewel perched at the northern edge of Morocco. And from our exclusive, hand selected viewing site, you’ll prepare to witness the spectacular highlight – the longest total solar eclipse of the century sweeping across Northern Africa on August 2, 2027.
Our journey concludes in the enchanting city of Lisbon, where we’ll bid farewell to this unforgettable adventure.
Tangier, Morocco – August 2027 Eclipse Weather Prospects
by TravelQuest eclipse meteorologist Jay Anderson
Morocco provides a fine sunny climatology from which to view the 2027 eclipse. Weather station measurements at Tangier for August show that 79 percent of the daylight hours are sunny. Daily satellite images are just as optimistic, showing that only five eclipse days had cloud in the past 24 years and on three of those five, the cloud would have dissipated before the eclipse. Temperatures—an important part of this eclipse in the heat of summer—are pleasant, with average daytime highs just above 30°C (86°F). In common with the rest of the eclipse track, atmospheric dust is an occasional problem in Morocco, but only one August 2 in the past 24 years was affected by a dust pall thick enough to put a thin veil over the outer corona of the Sun. All-in-all, Morocco is an excellent and pleasing location from which to view an eclipse.
