On 22 July 2028, a rare spectacle unfolds: a solar eclipse sweeping diagonally across the entirety of Australia. The path of totality begins near Bigge Island in the Northwest around 9:17 AM and bids farewell near Sydney at 2:03 PM in the Southeast. Along its journey, the eclipse crosses three distinct climate zones: the tropical North, the arid heart of the continent, and finally the temperate Southeast. The 2028 total eclipse comes in the middle of Australia’s winter but it’s not your North American version of winter. At El Questro, average daytime high temperatures rise above 30°C (86°F) and the nights are balmy too. The skies are an eclipse-chaser’s delight, with measured sunshine on more than 90 percent of the daytime hours. Satellite observations over the past 20 years show a mean cloudiness of 12 percent, among the best anywhere along the track. Rain is uncommon – one day a month amounting to 2-5 mm (1/10th-1/5th inch) on average. Even the kangaroos and wallabies, one imagines, may pause mid-hop to experience 4 minutes and 42 seconds of midday twilight at El Questro. There is no better place to see this eclipse.

Prices are per person in US Dollars based on the number of people in a room. Prices are based on projected rates and will not be finalized until 2027. TravelQuest reserves the right to increase or decrease published prices at that time. Any minor child participating in a TravelQuest tour must be at least 12 years of age.

Payments & Terms

  • An advance payment of $1,800 USD per person, along with the completed reservation form, are required to secure your reservation
  • A second advance payment equal to 20% of your invoice grand total is due by June 1, 2026
  • A third advance payment equal to 20% of your invoice grand total is due by November 2, 2026
  • A fourth advance payment equal to 20% of your invoice grand total is due by June 1, 2027
  • Final payment is due by February 1, 2028
  • All payments can be made using a credit card, or a bank wire transfer

Cancellation Terms

  • Cancellations must be made in writing via email
  • All advance payments, less a $500 USD per person cancellation fee, are refundable until May 31, 2026
  • Cancellations made between June 1, 2026 and November 1, 2026 will incur a $1,400 per person fee
  • Cancellations made between November 2, 2026 and May 31, 2027 will incur a $3,800 per person fee
  • Cancellations made between June 1, 2027 and January 30, 2028 will incur a $5,000 per person fee
  • All payments become non-refundable after February 1, 2028
  • Airline cancellation terms & conditions are the responsibility of the traveler
  • If payment remains outstanding for forty-five (45) days after the due date and no written communication has been received from you, TravelQuest may cancel your booking, and the cancellation penalties set forth above shall apply.

TRAVELER HEALTH

At TravelQuest we want to be sure you find the trip that best suits your interests and level of fitness. Prior to making a booking, it is the responsibility of each traveler to thoroughly read the itinerary, and to acquire and understand all pertinent medical advice to determine whether they are in an appropriate state of physical health to undertake the trip. At a minimum, participants must be able to climb into and out of buses, vans and trains without assistance, to carry their own luggage, and to generally keep up with the pace of the trip. If you have any questions about your trip’s itinerary or its level of difficulty, please contact us prior to booking.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel insurance helps protect you from unexpected “what ifs” on your travels: What if your bags go missing? What if you must cancel? What if you need medical assistance? TravelQuest recommends that you purchase a travel protection plan to help secure you and your trip investment against the unexpected. You can purchase this insurance on your own or contact our friends at Travelex, who are familiar with our trips and offer a selection of coverage options to suit your needs. To be eligible for the waiver of pre-existing medical condition exclusion, the Travelex Ultimate plan must be purchased within 21 days from the date you make your initial trip deposit. ALL Travelex policies must be purchased at least one day prior to your departure date.
